Katie's podcast was one of the first ones I discovered, and I quickly proceeded to devour nearly all the episodes. With Katie's fun, playful, and curious personality and her awesome and diverse guests, her podcast is one to look forward to each week! Plus, with a name like Wellness Wonderland, it's not hard to get excited about living in your own magical wellness wonderland.
EVERY WOMAN HAS THEIR OWN UNIQUE STORY. CAN YOU TELL US ‘YOUR STORY’ WITH FOOD OR BODY IMAGE?
My story starts with not feeling good enough which is the root of the problem for most of us I think. Since I felt like I wasn't good enough (smart enough, pretty enough, cool enough, etc) I thought if I could just be thin enough maybe that would make be feel better than other people and therefore good enough being myself and as sick as it is it did for a bit.
Since society reveres the "thin" body shape I was commended for it however it wasn't sustainable to get my happiness through that, I had to find another way. So I used my eating disorder as a way to wake up to the fact that my happiness shouldn't be conditional upon what other people think of me and that I should find my happiness within myself.
So, I went on a quest to do that and challenge society's narrow view of beauty and now I help other women through that transition to peace with food and unconditional happiness and peace.
WHAT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST LESSONS YOU LEARNED IN ORDER TO HEAL DISORDERED EATING AND BODY SHAME?
- Just because I'm a size 00 doesn't mean anything will change. However, people will treat you differently and that is a reflection of how messed up society's standards of beauty are.
- Our bodies are complex amazing creatures that can do so many brilliant things and food is their fuel for allowing them to do those things. Nourishing your body to FEEL good is amazing and meant to be fun. Whoever manufactured our bodies made the process enjoyable for a reason. Each time we eat we have the opportunity to truly nourish ourselves and this includes eating things purely for taste and pleasure that's nourishing too.
IF YOU COULD WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR FORMER SELF, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT HER TO KNOW?
You're enough and everything you go through teaches you something and that you get better with age.

I love filling my Instagram with body positive people. The only proven method to improve body image is through exposure therapy so if you can look at images of people your size or bigger and start to practice finding beauty in them you are more likely to find it in yourself. So I follow plus size models and inspirational people there. This is a tool I learned from my mentor Isabel Foxen Duke who is a coach I would recommend to everyone to check out her work or online programs and blogs.

Listening to podcasts and audiobooks, reading, and writing in my journal. Also, coaching the girls I work with and giving lectures energizes me.
