Thank you for Reading!
Today is my 1-year blogging anniversary! Those of you who read from the beginning will remember I started out as The Running Carrot, then moved to Mindful Meals a few months ago.
I am amazed about how far this little project has come. I started this as a fun project one night when I was bored, and my mom was the only one who read it. I didn't tell many people, but as I read more blogs and fell back in love with writing, I invested in this project.
Thoughts running inside my head turned into posts, and other people actually read them. I'm so grateful that my words have helped others, and thank you to all of you who commented, emailed, or gave me feedback or compliments! Keep them coming, they keep me motivated and offer me new ideas to write about. My goal really is to help all of you learn about whole foods, digestion, creating healthy habits, and think about (not) dieting, your weight and body in a new frame of mind.
I've also been lucky enough to connect with other health bloggers, and together, we share each other's posts. I don't do many recipe blogs because honestly, my meals most nights are quick, simple, and boring. Thankfully, there are so many others out there that create beautiful and healthy meals that I can share with you.
For you new readers, I am so happy you found this space, and I hope you stick around. You can sign up for my newsletter here if you want to receive new posts and my free guide & worksheet on how your mind blocks you from reaching your health goals.
To thank all of you who have read this past year, I want to share one of my favorite books. One of you lucky readers will win the book Intuitive Eating. I've written about this book in the past, but it offers a new approach to the typical diet. Instead of restricting foods and counting calories, it takes the approach of listening to your body's hunger and fullness cues and giving yourself permission to eat all foods.
All diets have "rules" like only 50 grams of carbs, no dairy, don't eat fruit with meals, blah blah blah. They convince you of these rules by throwing in "scientific proof" (that may actually be animal studies or misinterpreted) and personal testimonials on how this diet changed someone's life. If you feel good eating one way, that's awesome! I just prefer to take the approach of finding the foods that make YOU energized and happy long-term and taking a balanced rather than strict approach. With Intuitive Eating, you allow yourself to eat all foods, but you also pay attention to how food makes you feel.
I can't praise this book enough, and I really hope whoever wins it will love it as much as I do.
