The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of fun, sun, and bliss...and I'm entering a busy season of fall clients, coaching cross-country, and exciting adventures here on the blog. Don't worry - I'll be sure to schedule in all the best parts of fall too - apple picking, running through crunchy leaves, and my birthday :) Yesterday, I came back from two wonderful vacations to Florida and the ocean near Cape Cod. I had a blissful time away from email, removed myself from social media, and found myself grounded by the ocean and connecting with myself and boyfriend again. Just thinking about WARM ocean swimming, boat rides, and tiki bars brings a playful sense of joy back into my heart.
Before today's post, I just have to throw out that play, fun, and time away from work is ESSENTIAL for a life you love. Sometimes, you have to take a step back from work (even if it's work you love, like I do) to come back feeling refreshed and excited. Although I feel a bit overwhelmed when looking at my email inbox, I know that my mind and body are renewed. Especially after an incredible, sweaty yoga flow last night during the full moon.
If I let myself get caught up in the overwhelm and forget self-care after vacations, I'll work all day and end up sick in bed for days.
Now is the time to go back to the basics, take time for me to nourish, move, and sleep, and trust that I'll work through my to-do list with time.
When I come back from vacation, my body starts to crave nourishing, simple meals. All I wanted for breakfast this morning was a big plate of eggs, veggies, and avocado. Simple, delicious, and nourishing, along with a cup of hydrating ginger tea. I fully enjoyed some delicious mojitos last week, but in order to bring my body back to balance, I'm listening to its desire for simple + nourishing.
